PAT Testing

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) for London Businesses & Landlords

IET Code of Practice appliance testing for offices, shops, landlords and letting agents, with labels and a digital asset register.

Tested in line with the IET Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. Each appliance receives a visual inspection (plugs, flex, and casings), earth continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, tamper-proof pass/fail labelling, and a digital asset register.

For employers and landlords, PAT testing is the practical way to demonstrate that portable equipment is being maintained safely. We test computers, kettles, extension leads, tools and appliances across offices, shops and rental properties.

Your digital asset register records every item tested, its result, and its retest due date – a straightforward audit trail for insurers, agents and enforcement.

Frequently asked questions

Is PAT testing a legal requirement?+

The law requires employers and landlords to maintain electrical equipment safely, but does not mandate PAT testing by name. Testing to the IET Code of Practice is the recognised way to demonstrate that duty of care.

How often should appliances be tested?+

It depends on the equipment type and environment – office IT equipment less frequently, tools and equipment in harsher environments more often. Your asset register records a recommended retest date for each item.

What happens if an appliance fails?+

It is labelled as failed and we tell you why. Common failures like damaged plugs or incorrect fuses can often be repaired on the spot with your approval.
